Relay Payments Named a Finalist for Women in Trucking’s Technology Innovation Award

Relay Payments, the fintech company that modernizes payments for the supply chain, logistics and trucking industries, is one of three finalists for the inaugural Women in Trucking Technology Innovation Award. Women in Trucking (WIT) is a non-profit organization that empowers women in the trucking industry, by promoting their accomplishments and minimizing obstacles that may come their way. The WIT Technology Innovation Award is designed to honor technical achievements that advance the trucking industry and specifically, its inclusion of women.

“At Relay, we know technology can remove barriers that prevent women from working in the trucking industry while helping them feel safer. We’ve heard from countless women drivers who appreciate our contactless technology because it minimizes frustrating interactions and removes friction, whether they’re paying lumpers or trying to find secure parking at 3am,” said Relay co-founder Spencer Barkoff. “We’re proud to be a member of Women in Trucking — we share in the organization’s vision of empowering women in the industry.”

Relay has quickly grown to become a force in the global supply chain and trucking industries. The Atlanta-based company launched in 2019 to help digitally transform payments, with a focus of making driver’s lives easier. Relay’s technology solves the problem of frustrating unloading times at warehouses, where drivers can wait for hours on approvals for cash or fleet check payments to pay lumpers. This reliance on cash and paper checks leads to inefficiencies and fraud, so Relay introduced an entirely digital, secure and contactless payment solution to eliminate these issues. Relay’s mobile app was quickly adopted, and truckers fell in love with it, since it increases hours of service and revenue potential on every load.

Today, more than 300,000 truckers use Relay’s mobile app to make over-the-road payments, and almost every warehouse in the United States participates in their payment network.

This recognition from the Women in Trucking association is the latest in a string of honors earned by Relay for its innovation and culture. Other recent awards include being named to the FreightTech 100, Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies and Inc Magazine’s Best Workplaces.
